  1. Showtime is included

  2. My reading of the U-verse announcement is that it only includes HD sites for those non-HD sites to which the viewer already has access??

  3. Fred… I didn’t see that in the announcement and it wasn’t that way for the November free previews. I don’t subscribe to any pay-per-view channels and we had lots of free channels to choose from.

  4. Hi all,

I was just watching the ATTN channel (No. 400/1400) to see how they were announcing this upcoming free preview weekend. It’s interesting that for the HBO/Cinemax announcement they tell you to tune to Channel Nos. 802/1802 (HBO) and 832/1832 (Cinemax) for that preview, but for the Showtime announcement they list the series of Channel Nos. 852-859/1852-1859.

(Of note, that’s not ALL of the SHO channels either. They go up to 866/1866. And also of note – usually we get the sister TMC channels as well when they give the SHO previews)

Makes me wonder if the Showtime preview will be the entire package, but for HBO they will only open the ‘main’ HBO and ‘main’ Cinemax feed.

I don’t actually think that’s what they intend to do, but the way the announcement is worded on the ATTN channel would lead you to think that. It’s not unprecedented either – I’ve had U-verse for about 5 years and I know that at least once before when they announced a free preview of one of the premium channels (might have been Starz) they only opened the ‘main’ channel and not the entire suite.

I’m getting my DVR ready for either possibility.

One more thing to add. People might know this already, but it’s information for those who don’t. They usually start these previews at either midnight or 1 am in my time zone. While those channels are often black screen when you turn them on immediately after they are available, you are able to record the show with the DVR and upon playback you can see the picture that was only black screen when you turned to the channel. At least that has been my experience.

    Enjoy everybody!

  5. And one more thing I just saw on the ATTN channel. The following week U-verse is offering a free preview of something called Disney Family Movies.

I don’t even know what that channel is, but it lists the titles of many Disney classics as being available.

The dates are Jan. 13th – 19th and it says to watch during those dates you press the On Demand button and select ‘Subscription’

    Hopefully that is helpful.

  6. As expected, ALL of the HBO/Cinemax channels are available as well as the entire SHO/TMC/Flix series of channels. And we have access to On Demand for all of them as well.

U-verse is occasionally terrible at providing detailed information to subscribers.

Thanks for the good work with this website. I continue to use it as a resource for these events.
