AT&T U-verse will be having a free preview of their HD programming beginning January 18th and ending January 24th.The HD Premier Tier will be included in the free preview.
It’s not clear at this time whether this free preview will be for those currently with some HD programming, those without any HD programming or open to all customers who have an HDTV connected.

What time does the free HD actually begin?
Here it is Monday and my HDTV is not showing the HD channel
Why does the picture on the HD channel look the same as on the regular channel?
Last year AT&T had a U450 preview which included the HD channels. During that preview I noticed that quality of the HD On-Demand premium channels was particularly hideous. Freezing, pixilating, etc.
I think it’s pretty amusing that AT&T has solved this issue for the current HD preview by not allowing us to see the HD versions of On-Demand channels to which we’re already subscribed. We have U300. Yet they do not allow us to access Starz, Encore and Showtime HD On-Demand channels. Even though we have the standard def versions.
My sense is that they don’t want us to see that the quality has not improved.
