Free Preview Begins: November 21, 2018 (Wednesday)
Free Preview Ends: November 25, 2018 (Sunday)
There’s a free preview of HBO & Cinemax over Thanksgiving weekend, November 21 to 25. So far here’s who I can confirm who’s participating, although more may be added as we get closer.
- Verizon FIOS
- Comcast Xfinity
- Blue Ridge Communications
- United and Turtle Mountain Communications
- Golden West Telecommunications
- Eagle Communications
- AT&T U-Verse (Nov 22-25, also includes Showtime, Starz, and EPIX)
- DirecTV (Nov 22-25, also includes Showtime and Starz)
Thank you so much, everyone, for sending this in!
Please comment below if you have heard that your provider will be offering this free preview.
Optimum will also have this free preview for thanksgiving. Looks like Blue Ridge Communications, Untied and Turtle Mountain Communications, NDTC, Golden West Telecommunications, Armstrong, Eagle Communications, as well. Maybe more providers to come?
On Comcast/Xfinity as well – https://www.xfinity.com/hub/tv-video/hbo-thanksgiving-free-preview-weekend
Still no announcement by DirecTV but they’re part of AT&T now so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Tried to send this in as a tip but didn’t work, so posting it here. DirecTV’s Thanksgiving offering is Four Days, Four Premium Entertainment Networks. HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Showtime. It’s from November 22-25 (not Nov 21, as posted here for other providers).
Direct TV free preview of HBO, Cinemax, Stars Nov. 22-25
Saw the commercial for DIRECTV. They are having the free preview.
I just got the message from DirecTV. It’s the same as the U-Verse listed above: Nov 22-25, all four premium channels.
I received a message on my DirecTV guide that we’re getting HBO, Cinemax, Showtime & Starz from Thursday 11/22 through Sunday 11/25.
I got the same on-screen guide message for DirecTV, so it’s an official go for us as well. HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, and Starz from 11/22-11/25, Channels 501-557.
I don’t see CSpire but believe they may be doing this, too.
Does anyone know if Optimum will let you record movies/shows from HBO during the free weekend? I used to be able to do that with my other service provider when they had free weekends? I was trying to do it from their website – to record something that was coming on during the free time period but it’s telling me I need to subscribe. Thank you in advance!
We live in SE AZ.
Never know exactly the time
WHEN previews start and stop.
EST ~5-or-6-or-7 AM?
What time *should* I start checking the schedule to find out when it’s activated?
Suddenlink in St Joseph MO is having HBO and Cinemax, plus 2 TMC and 1 FLIX and all the Starz Encore
It’s through On Demand only. You can’t select Movie Max for example through listings.
Comcast/Xfinity’s On Demand menu will show you what selected programming you can watch for free.
thanks for the head’s up on this one. Comcast as usual is late on listing it on the front OnDemand page. you have to go to Premium Channels…then HBO OnDemand (or Max OnDemand).
Why is the free thanksgiving weekend on direct TV not coming on?
Its the 22nd and channels are not on. Does anyone know why??!!
11/22/2018 12:39 AM – Just checked, tried to view and then tried to record HBO movie – couldn’t do either. Just got on-screen info on how to subscribe. Exactly how is this “Free Thanksgiving weekend preview” supposed to work??
Try to get it on DirecTV but it will not go
My DirecTV free preview is working. When that happens, the channels just magically start working, on my receiver that is hooked to my TV (no internet interface or on-demand or anything like that).
The previews start and end at 6:00 a.m. EASTERN time. That would be 4:00 a.m. in the Mountain time zone at this time of year. Since Arizona has some weird daylight savings time issues, it might not be 4:00 a.m. during daylight savings time periods.
