Both DirecTV and Dish Network are planning a free preview of HBO and Cinemax September 23-26 to celebrate the season premiere of Boardwalk Empire.

Is there any way to not get the free preview, without blocking the channels/password thing?
Why would you not want the free preview? Unless you’ve already got the channels I suppose.
It looks like Cox Communications is participating in this free preview, and the Oklahoma City system is one of the Cox systems carrying it. If this verifies, this would be the third HBO preview they’ve carried this year (Cox OKC had freeviews of HBO in April and June), and the second Cinemax free preview (as they ran a freeview during the HBO free preview in April).
I will block the channels, I don’t want my kids watching that garbage.
Some good movies on. You should just block the ones your kids are too young to watch.
Moms it is what it is these kids are going to look at in life. Plus almost all hotels have HBO.
@MomofMany: Try as you like, your kids are going to discover sex someday. And you blocking them from it may cause them to view it with a warped mind.
It is a parent’s responsibility to set what HER children can and cannot see.
@MomofMany – most TVs can block shows based on their rating (e.g you can set to block all shows with TV-MA rating). That should take care of the adult fare on HBO.
@Rudy T – I think it’s the adult fare on Cinemax that @MomofMany should worry about, like the Max After Dark shows in late night.
Random topic but what does that mean,…. Available on HD to Dish customers?
I hope this is not another case where they give these previews ONLY to HD customers, cause watching them offer the best previews only to part of their customers is getting real old real fast….
I enjoy Dish but them offering previews to only select customers sends a message that selective customers are valued above all others, not a good message to send to customers, especially in these economic times with multitudes of companies competing for customers.
I just got the TVmail from DirecTV on this free preview today, and they only listed the HBO channels (501-511).
… and then later they sent a second mail with the Cinemax announcement, so it looks like they’re showing everything expected.
Here in Oklahoma City, Cox Communications started the free preview one day early. Little odd too see a HBO/Cinemax free preview start on a Thursday. Is anyone else seeing this?
