  1. Well shoot! We just broke down and ordered it the other day!

  2. I cancelled HBO subscription a year ago and went for Starz. I don’t miss ANYTHING on HBO. I won’t be watching its low quality programs now. If I ever want to see them, I can. For example, I’ll wait for the exceptionally exciting “Westworld” to be cancelled, and then binge-watch it somewhere else, such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.

    1. Even after it ends, Westworld probably will not be on Netflix, Amazon Prime,
or anywhere other than an HBO streaming service (such as HBO Max).

      From https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/westworld-netflix/
“This is because none of HBO’s content arrives on Netflix due to the fact the two companies occupy the same space and therefore are in competition.”

      From
      https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/everything-netflix-stands-to-lose-in-the-us-to-hbo-max/
“HBO content whether that be the likes of Game of Thrones, Westworld, Big Little Lies, The Sopranos, Chernobyl aren’t and haven’t ever been on Netflix.”

  3. Not for everyone. I tried getting it through a hbo go app on my roku and they ask which provider I have.

  4. I’m not getting it?

    1. Trying to get it on our Roku, no luck.

  5. Can’t make it work on my Roku.

  6. Our Spectrum (formerly Time Warner). We are not getting this free HBO ;-(

    1. No. The free HBO has nothing to do with the Showtime and Epix offer through Spectrum. You can only stream free HBO through their apps either HBO now or HBO GO until April 30th. Have at it!

  7. How do you get it?

  8. I think since we all pay for cable the least HBO Starz, Epix and all premium channels and Disney etc should be free to everyone who has cable. During this time of Covid19 it would be a great thing and the least they could do because they have made plenty of money and they would probably get people to subscribe to pay channels. I pay already for these channels but cannot have anyone at my house due to my health and will probably have to cancel because of this virus

  9. If you’re looking for how to watch on a Roku, this should help: https://blog.roku.com/free-hbo
Just search* for the series/movie you want to watch in The Roku Channel and click “Play for free.”
*quickest way to get to Search is arrow up from the Featured menu

    1. Anthony, thanks a lot for the Roku tip! Very helpful. I was wondering if and how Roku would provide access to this HBO content. I appreciate the help.

All, note that the Roku page at https://blog.roku.com/free-hbo says that those HBO series and documentaries will be available for free through May 15. Those movies are free through April 30.

      1. No problem, Bill.

It looks like in addition to using Search, you can also access the HBO section of The Roku Channel (arrow down to “Browse Premium Subscriptions” menu, then arrow right to HBO). Once you’re there, you should be able to watch anything under “Watch Free This Month” or that states you can play it for free without starting a 7-day trial.

Other than the series listed above and at the Roku link, you should also have access to Westworld seasons 1 & 2, and a couple free episodes from various other series.

Here’s the link from HBO about the promotion: https://www.hbo.com/hbo-news/watch-hbo-free-no-subscription

  10. How do you do it – on HBO Now, I clicked on an episode and it asked, Would you like to start your 7 day free trial- that doesn’t sound like it.

  11. Not Getting this on Buckeye Cable Toledo Ohio!

  12. Ok, I too got the “Would you like to start your 7 day free trial“ message On HBONow.
So I re-read the above article & found “Here’s a complete list of what will be free to watch…“
I then tried something listed & whammo, it played fine
So, in a nutshell, this preview is restricted to the content listed above
    Cheers

  13. I tried HBO too and it didn’t work. I guess we will have to wait until Friday, April 17
