Free Preview Begins: April 15, 2011 (Friday)
Free Preview Ends: April 18, 2011 (Monday)
Some Cox Communications customers will be getting a free preview of HBO and Cinemax starting on April 15 and ending on April 18 (or in some areas ending on April 17).
It’s important to note that not all Cox Communications affiliates will be carrying this free preview and you need to contact your local affiliate to see if they’ll be offering it in your area.
Thank you T.L. for sending all this information into us. If you know about a free preview please let us know about it!
Channel Lineup:
Check with your local provider.
It is also important to note if you are a Cox customer, you also need to ask if the free preview will include both HBO and Cinemax. Those receiving the free preview will see all seven HBO standard-definition channels, at least one HBO HD channel and HBO on Demand, but in some areas, the linear Cinemax channels will not be available but you will be able to access Cinemax on Demand.
Cox High Speed Internet customers should also ask if HBO Go or Max Go (HBO and Cinemax’s online streaming services, which became recently available to Cox’s HBO/Max subscribers with internet service) will also be available for free during the preview.
It is on Cox in Oklahoma City, I emailed Cox last week and they said that only that the HBO channels, HBO on Demand and Cinemax on Demand would be available. But I was surprised to find that they decided to include the Cinemax multiplex channels after all.
I was able to access HBO on demand earlier today but now I can’t!
For some reason, my Cox system stopped running one of the Cinemax channels, WMax, at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon (interestingly according to what was on the schedule, it occurred around the time it was supposed to air “The People vs. Larry Flynt”). They never brought the channel back, so all the HBO channels were there, but there were only seven (out of eight) Cinemax channels on afterward.
