Holly, it really depends on when they decide to turn it on for everyone. I would start checking the evening before but it may not come in until midnight or early morning.

Are the HD channels for HBO and Cinimax included in this preview?

I’m not positive that the HD channels are included this time Mark, but most of the time they are a part of the free previews.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and usually the free previews for us start at 3 A.M. on Fridays.

I just wanted to let everyone know this is Tuesday 9/9/08 and we still have HBO and Max. I’m not sure how long we will have it, but I’m watching it right now. ;0)

My husband said he was watching something the other day on TV (of course he doesnt remember what he was watching) when a commercial came on and mentioned the free preview and said it would last until the 14th. He may have even been on one of the DTV info channels, I am not positive.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Here in the Central Time Zone I am also STILL getting BOTH HBO and Cinemax! Also interesting is that I now get Sundance (channel 549) FREE, it’s usually part of the Showtime/The Movie Channel package! HD channels (channel 70, etc) ARE included in this free preview, as is HBO Latino (channel 511). Enjoy it while it lasts… I wonder if and hope the Starz/Encore preview will still happen.

I noticed the extra day too & was wondering why it was still on. It was gone today though. Glad I found this place because now I can see when the previews are. Directv doesn’t advertise the previews enough anymore. I wouldn’t have even known about this preview if I hadn’t gotten an email from directv but they don’t always send one. I usually find out on the last day (on weekends I sometimes flip through the movie channels to see if they are doing one) or I’ll find out after it happened. I like the previews because I’m sure not paying to see old as dirt movies with a few new movies thrown in as well as a couple of weak tv shows. I was excited about being able to see the premiere of “True Blood”.. but it was “True Sh*t. They were more interested in showing T&A than anything else. Within the first 30 seconds it was focusing on a sex act. So, bring on the previews.. cause I ain’t paying for this crap! LOL
